چکیده
Hydraulic fracturing of coalbed methane wells has been widely practised as an effective method to increase drainage efficiency in low-permeability, low-pressure and low-saturated coal seams. To investigate hydraulic fracture performance associated seismic response coal, experiments were carried out on two cubic blocks containing a host natural fractures using true triaxial rock testing machine equipped with loading, injection acoustic systems. The system uses transducers active sources repetitively generate receive ultrasonic P/S wave pulses for characterising mechanical properties the revealing growth. Silicon oil was injected into middle create under deviatoric stress conditions, displacement, borehole pressure volume, recorded over process. X-ray computed tomography (CT) conducted before after identify location geometry fractures. Results have shown that behaviour, drawdown period intrusion fluid are dominated by complexity insulation offered internal networks blocks. In addition, spectrograms captured both initiation its subsequent interaction fractures, which indicates induced interfere propagation waves influence characteristics. Seismic velocity signals also provided spatial information such approximate locations pre-existing injection-disturbed regions.

Hydraulic Fracturing of Naturally Fractured Reservoirs
A carefully engineered stimulation that makes use of opening mode fractures is an effective way to reduce injection and production impedance and provide better access for the fluid to enter and promote shearing in the main reservoir volume. We present results from field experiments that mapped the fracture geometry for opening mode hydraulic fractures formed in naturally fractured crystalline r...
متن کاملScale Model Simulation of Hydraulic Fracturing for EGS Reservoir Creation Using a Heated True-Triaxial Apparatus
Geothermal energy technology has successfully provided a means of generating stable base load electricity for many years. However, implementation has been spatially limited to rare high quality traditional resources possessing the combination of a shallow high heat flow anomaly and an aquifer with sufficient permeability and fluid recharge. Enhanced Geother‐ mal Systems (EGS) technology has bee...
متن کاملHydraulic Fracturing Simulation for Fracture Networks
The term ‘Unconventional Reservoirs’ is used in the oil and gas industry for hydrocarbon reservoirs that have very low permeability in the magnitude of microdarcy (μd) and therefore rely on artificially introducing pathways for fluids and gases, commonly by using hydraulic fracturing techniques, to enable economic production. This approach of using fracturing stimulation campaigns is also incre...
متن کاملThe Behaviour of Fracture Growth in Sedimentary Rocks: A Numerical Study Based on Hydraulic Fracturing Processes
To capture the hydraulic fractures in heterogeneous and layered rocks, a numerical code that can consider the coupled effects of fluid flow, damage, and stress field in rocks is presented. Based on the characteristics of a typical thin and inter-bedded sedimentary reservoir, China, a series of simulations on the hydraulic fracturing are performed. In the simulations, three points, i.e., (1) con...
